The Department of Dance was formerly known as the five-year dance group of the Chinese Cultural College, which was established in 1964. In 1975, promoted to the  four-year physical education dance division. In 1982, the dance division established as an independent dance department.

The Departments curriculum are based on both Eastern and Western dance, and additionally add humanities theories to cultivate students' independent thinking ability and lay a good foundation for professional and artistic self-cultivation. 

The Department is the only private comprehensive university with dance-related departments in Taiwan. Under the fiercely competitive circumstances for higher education, the Department upholds the spirit and philosophy of the founding of the department, and continues to follow the current dance education and art environment to position clear educational goals and trends.   Furthermore focusing on the advantages and resources available within a comprehensive university and cultivate dance talents combined with professional academic, creative and practical skills, and establish the unique characteristics of this department.

The distinctive Features of the Dance Department guided by a clear self-positioning, we directs students to specialize in one of the following major technique: ballet, modern dance, or Chinese folk dance which fostering a profound understanding of their chosen discipline. Furthermore, through in-depth learning approaches such as various lectures, workshops, master classes and certification courses that extends beyond technical fitness. We continuously integrate with the industry, keeping pace with the current artistic and cultural environment. This approach cultivate with a unique blend of academic expertise, creativity, and practical skills, is a distinctive feature of our department.
